The QR code scanner is unlocked after beating the main campaign. What we do know by now is that this piece of post-game content is pretty cool, and players are helping each other out by making it far more accessible. Although it was revealed pre-launch, the finer details are still being uncovered by players who have blasted through the games. Please discuss this at /r/3dshacks.One of Pokémon Sun and Moon’s lesser-known features is the QR code scanner. There is no way to inject to Sun/Moon without hacking your 3DS. New3DS and New3DSXL cannot be used for injection as the shipped firmware is already past the injection firmware. PLEASE NOTE that there is no method for injecting Pokémon for generations V and below - QR injection will only work for generation 6 (X, Y, OR, AS) using a specific software on 3DS, 3DSXL, and 2DS.
